Introduction to Football Analytics

Designed for anyone curious about football data — from industry professionals to enthusiastic fans — this Hudl Statsbomb course introduces the core principles of football analytics without requiring advanced statistical knowledge. Across five lessons, learners explore key topics including expected goals, types of attack, set pieces, defensive choices, and team and opposition analysis. A basic understanding of football and statistics is considered useful but not essential.

The course is delivered entirely online, with each of the five video-based modules running approximately 40 minutes, making it completable in a single day. Lessons are led by James Yorke, Director of Football at Hudl Statsbomb, and Ted Knutson, Statsbomb CEO. Learners can progress at their own pace, and access does not expire after purchase. A Statsbomb certificate of completion is awarded upon finishing the course, which is also available in Spanish.
