Soccer Analytics Course

Designed for coaches, scouts, analysts, former players, and recent graduates looking to enter the data-driven side of the game, this introductory course covers the fundamentals of soccer analytics and football data analysis. Over eight weeks, students progress through topics including individual player analysis, team performance and tactics, data-driven recruitment, and data visualisation, with hands-on training in industry tools such as Wyscout, InStat, Impect, and StatsBomb.

The course is delivered entirely online through a combination of weekly live Zoom sessions, discussion boards, readings, quizzes, and projects. It runs over eight weeks and is led by Dr. Danielle Prescott — the first female scout in Manchester United's history and a former performance analyst for England's Lionesses — alongside SMWW President Dr. Lynn Lashbrook and physical performance analyst Lee Fraser. Graduates receive an SMWW Certificate of Accomplishment signed by both Prescott and Lashbrook, and have the option to earn university credit through Fort Hays State University for an additional fee.
