BA Sport Development and Coaching

Designed for students who want to work across the sport sector, Plymouth Marjon University's BA (Hons) Sport Development and Coaching covers community sport, coaching theory and practice, sport policy, inclusion, event management, and strategic sport management. The programme spans grassroots participation through to elite performance and is broad enough to support a range of career paths, including coaching, sport development management, and community programme leadership. Students develop practical skills alongside academic understanding, with work placements, guest speakers from industry, and study trips forming part of the experience.

Delivered on campus in Plymouth with small class sizes, the course runs three years full time or up to six years part time. By Year 2 students earn the CIMSPA Coaching Assistant award, progressing to the CIMSPA Coach qualification by Year 3. Successful completion of mapped modules also leads to a Chartered Management Institute Level 5 qualification in Management and Leadership. The course is delivered by Plymouth Marjon University, which maintains connections with organisations including the UK Sport Development Network and Argyle Community Trust.
