Football Development and Coaching

Plymouth Marjon University's BA (Hons) Football Coaching and Development is a degree-level programme covering coaching, player development, talent identification, performance analysis, leadership, management, and the use of football as a vehicle for social change. Open to second and third year entrants only, it suits those seeking a career across the football industry, from grassroots community settings to performance environments. The course welcomes students of all backgrounds and actively promotes inclusion and diversity within the football workforce.

Delivered on campus in Plymouth, the programme runs for three years full-time and is built around close partnerships with Plymouth Argyle, Argyle Community Trust, and Devon FA, with university lecturers working alongside industry professionals. A 100-plus hour work placement in year two provides direct industry experience. Students can earn FA coaching qualifications up to UEFA B at no additional cost, a Chartered Management Institute Level 5 qualification in Management and Leadership, and professional recognition for the Assistant Coach and Coach standards from CIMSPA.
