MSc Sport Coaching

Designed for practising coaches looking to advance their expertise, this MSc combines cutting-edge coaching theory with applied professional practice. Students plan, deliver and evaluate long-term coaching programmes, drawing on contemporary research to deepen their understanding of participant development, skill acquisition, performance analysis and professional coaching practice. The course suits those with a relevant honours degree or equivalent professional experience in sport coaching, sports science, physical education or related fields.

Delivered on a full-time basis over one year at Leeds Beckett University's Headingley Campus, the programme uses a blended approach that combines block face-to-face sessions, regular online sessions, and interactive livestreamed alternatives for those with work commitments. Students graduate with an MSc qualification awarded by Leeds Beckett University, which is ranked among the top 100 institutions globally for sports-related subjects in the 2025 QS World University Rankings. Teaching is led by staff within the university's established Centre for Sport Coaching, who are active practitioners, consultants and researchers in the field.
