Leadership in Sport Organizations

Aimed at emerging and practising professionals seeking to develop their leadership capabilities within sport, this five-week online course from the Johan Cruyff Institute provides an introduction to core leadership theory applied to the sporting context. Topics covered include leadership styles, transactional and transformational leadership, situational leadership, personal effectiveness, team dynamics, and conflict management strategies, with the programme structured across a theoretical phase and a practical phase.

Delivered entirely online through the institute's virtual campus, the course requires approximately eight to ten hours of study per week and carries three ECTS credits. Teaching is supported by live webinars, case studies, videos, and tutor-guided assessments. Participants who complete the course receive a blockchain-verified Certificate in Leadership in Sport Organizations issued by the Johan Cruyff Institute. The course is available in both English and Spanish, with a next intake starting September 2026.
