BA (Hons) Football Coaching

Delivered at the University of Bedfordshire's Bedford campus, this BA (Hons) Football Coaching degree is aimed at students seeking a career as a coach across a variety of football settings. The programme covers coaching skills, session planning, performance analysis, player development, football governance and community football, with students choosing between a coaching or business specialism after their first year. Placement partners include Luton Town FC, MK Dons and a range of local clubs and schools, and graduates have gone on to work at professional clubs and organisations including FIFA.

The course is classroom-based and runs over three years, with an optional fourth professional practice year in industry available to UK and EU students. It leads to an honours degree and is delivered by practising academic coaches, with course leadership held by senior lecturer David Pears. The University holds Higher Education Partner status with the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), and students have the opportunity to gain a free CIMSPA qualification in Gym Instruction alongside their degree.
