BA (Hons) Sport Coaching and Physical Education

Designed for aspiring coaches, PE teachers, and sport development professionals, the BA (Hons) Sport Coaching and Physical Education at Plymouth Marjon University builds a broad grounding in sports coaching, teaching, and the organisation of sport. The curriculum spans skill acquisition, sport science, coaching theory, learning theory, performance analysis, and sport development, with students able to tailor their final-year modules toward their chosen career path. Graduates are equipped to pursue roles in coaching, sport development, governing bodies, or further study including PGCE or postgraduate programmes.

Delivered on campus in Plymouth, the course runs for three years full-time, with direct entry to years two and three also available. Students gain practical experience through work placements in schools and sports clubs, and have the opportunity to earn industry-recognised qualifications including UKCC awards and first aid certificates. The course is led by Kelvin Kirk and supported by lecturers who are qualified teachers or hold high-level coaching awards, including staff with professional football and UEFA licence credentials.
