BA (Hons) Sports Journalism

Designed for students aiming to build careers across broadcast, print and digital media, the Sports Journalism BA (Hons) at the University of Gloucestershire equips learners with multimedia journalism skills covering online and print reporting, radio and television production, live text commentary, mobile journalism and social media. The programme develops real-world experience through strong industry connections, with placement opportunities at organisations including Premier League clubs, talkSPORT and Real Madrid TV, alongside regular input from practitioners working at the BBC, ESPN and Amazon Prime Video Sport.

Delivered on campus at the Park site in Cheltenham, the course runs over three years full time and awards a Bachelor of Arts with Honours. It is provided by the University of Gloucestershire's School of Arts, Culture and Environment, with teaching staff who continue to work in the industry. The university's journalism courses are ranked first in the UK for career prospects by the Guardian University Guide 2025, and F1TV presenter Laura Winter serves as a course associate, contributing guest lectures and mentoring throughout the academic year.
