MSc Sport Broadcast

Designed for aspiring sports broadcast professionals, Cardiff Metropolitan University's MSc Sport Broadcast equips students with practical skills across television production, audio and digital broadcasting, broadcast journalism, and media law. The programme is aimed at those seeking employment in sport broadcast journalism and the wider sport media industry, with content developed in collaboration with broadcasters from the BBC, ITV, and Sky Sports. Students gain experience across a broad range of roles — from presenting and directing to video editing and social media production — while also examining the ethical, regulatory, and socio-political dimensions of modern sports coverage.

Delivered on campus in Cardiff through lectures, seminars, workshops, and live broadcast scenarios, the programme runs for one year and leads to a Master of Science degree (with Postgraduate Diploma and Certificate exit awards also available). A 60-credit professional placement module forms a significant part of the curriculum, combining an internal placement within Cardiff Met Sport TV and a 15-day external placement with a broadcaster or sports organisation. The programme is delivered by sports broadcast industry professionals and is offered in partnership with ScreenSkills.
