Chelsea Football Club Foundation Coaching and Development

Delivered in collaboration with Chelsea FC Foundation, this Foundation of Science degree is designed for students who want to develop practical and academic expertise across football coaching, player development, and community impact. The programme covers topics including foundation and youth phase player development, coaching football through games, performance analysis, adapted football provisions, and multidisciplinary approaches to player development. It is suited to those seeking careers in academy football, schools, national governing bodies, county football associations, or disability coaching.

The FdSc is a two-year classroom-based programme delivered by St Mary's University in Twickenham, with teaching also taking place at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea FC's training ground in Cobham. Students learn from industry professionals and complete work placements through the Chelsea FC Foundation across areas such as coaching, talent identification, performance analysis, and social inclusion. On completion, graduates earn the FdSc qualification and have the option to progress to a one-year top-up BSc (Hons) in the same subject.
