BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Sports Coaching (RQF)

Aimed at post-16 learners seeking to enter the coaching and development sector, this BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Sports Coaching covers three core units: Careers in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry, Health and Wellbeing, and Developing Coaching Skills. Students build the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to plan and implement coaching programmes, while also developing teamwork, leadership, and communication competencies suited to a role as an assistant coach.

Delivered full-time over one year at Kingston College's Kingston Hall Road Centre in Kingston upon Thames, the course is classroom-based and makes use of the college's gym and sports hall facilities. Assessment is predominantly coursework-based, drawing on presentations, practicals, role plays, and essays. The qualification is awarded at BTEC Level 3 (RQF), equivalent to one A-level, and is delivered by Kingston College, part of the South Thames Colleges Group. The next intake begins September 2026.
