FdSc Football Coaching and Performance

The FdSc Football Coaching and Performance programme at Coleg Sir Gâr is a practice-based foundation degree designed to prepare students for careers in football and the wider sports industry. Areas of study span football coaching, football analysis, and strength and conditioning, alongside transferable skills such as research, problem solving, and critical thinking. The programme maintains strong industry links with clubs including Swansea City FC and Llanelli Town AFC, as well as local schools and football development officers, giving students meaningful work-based learning experience.

Delivered on a classroom basis at UWTSD Carmarthen by Coleg Sir Gâr, the course runs over two years full-time or four years part-time. It is validated by the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, with students enrolled at both institutions and earning an FdSc qualification upon completion. The programme is designed to facilitate progression onto the BSc Football Coaching and Performance top-up degree or direct entry into roles such as football analyst, strength and conditioning coach, development officer, or PE teacher.
