Leadership of Talent Identification & Development in Football

Designed for heads of recruitment and senior scouting professionals actively working within the professional game, this FA course develops the leadership skills required to manage and advance an elite talent identification department. Across five modules, participants explore leadership and management within talent ID, negotiation and influencing skills, modern trends in the game, structures and governance, and practical application — equipping them to build high-performing scouting teams and implement effective departmental strategy. Prior scouting experience and familiarity with a club's recruitment strategy are prerequisites for entry.

Delivered face-to-face across eight learning blocks throughout the season, the course runs over 14 months and includes sessions with external presenters, FA tutors, and peer group classroom work, concluding with a two-day assessment programme. It is offered at various locations and is provided directly by The FA through England Football Learning.
