MA Sport Development & Management

Designed for recent graduates and current practitioners in sport development, administration, or related fields, this master's programme at Leeds Beckett University covers strategic management, leadership, governance, diversity and inclusion, and sport for development. Core modules include Global Sport Policy & Governance, Advanced Leadership in Sport, and Applied Social Theory in Sport, alongside a range of option modules in areas such as events management and sport marketing. Students complete an independent project, which can take the form of a consultancy partnership with an external sport organisation or an in-depth academic investigation.

The programme is delivered full-time on campus at the Headingley Campus in Leeds and lasts one year, with a start date of September 2026. It is taught within the Carnegie School of Sport — ranked among the top 100 institutions globally for sports-related subjects in the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject — and awards an MA upon completion. Teaching draws on staff with extensive industry experience and a strong research profile, supplemented by high-profile guest speakers and industry partnerships.
