MSc Applied Sport and Exercise Science

Designed for graduates looking to work as applied sport scientists with professional athletes or in health promotion, the University of Derby's MSc Applied Sport and Exercise Science allows students to tailor their studies across disciplines including sport psychology, performance analysis, physiology, strength and conditioning, and biomechanics. Specialist pathways in Psychology and Performance Analysis are available, with the Psychology pathway endorsed by the Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES), supporting entry onto the CASES Sport and Exercise Psychology Accreditation Route.

The programme is delivered on campus in Derby and is available full-time or part-time. It includes 150 hours of applied work placement, drawing on the university's partnerships with football, cricket, rugby, and swimming organisations, as well as Team Derby. Students also have access to high-specification sport science laboratories and the university's Human Performance Unit. Exit awards at Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma level are available alongside the full MSc qualification.
