BSc (Hons) Performance Analysis and Coaching Science

Designed for aspiring performance analysts and coaching scientists, this BSc (Hons) programme at the University of Derby develops specialist skills in analysing individual and team performance across a range of sports. Students study the theory and science underpinning performance analysis and coaching, alongside complementary sport sciences such as biomechanics, psychology and physical performance. The course places strong emphasis on applied, real-world learning, with work placement and internship opportunities at professional clubs forming a central part of the student experience.

Delivered on campus in Derby, the programme combines classroom teaching with extensive practical sessions in a dedicated Performance Analysis Suite equipped with dual-screen iMac computers and leading analysis software. Students earn Hudl Academy qualifications and become certified Sportscode users. The course is taught by staff who work as active practitioners in the industry, and has been developed in collaboration with industry partners including Hudl. Duration is three years full-time, with an optional additional placement year available.
