Soccer Game Principles: An Introduction

Designed for coaches and football professionals seeking a deeper understanding of the game, this introductory course explores the Soccer Game Principles Framework, covering how coaches can structure teams, design individual development plans, and build training exercises around key game principles. It examines individual and team concepts such as progression, containment, support, cover, mobility, and control, alongside learning design models and playing structures, with the aim of developing more intelligent and skilful players.

Delivered entirely online, the course comprises 20 lessons across six sections and is taught by Ricardo Duarte, a UEFA-qualified coach and coach educator holding a PhD from the Technical University of Lisbon. Duarte has held roles including Head of Coach Education at the Football Association of Finland and is currently Head Coach of AC Oulu. The course is provided through Soccer Hub and is available in English with unlimited access.
