UEFA Football Doctor Education Programme (UEFA FDEP)

Designed for medical doctors nominated by their national football association, the UEFA Football Doctor Education Programme (UEFA FDEP) builds the clinical and practical skills required of the modern football doctor. Delivered across three workshops, the programme covers trauma and medical emergencies, football-specific injury diagnosis and treatment, and broader player protection topics including nutrition, psychology, rehabilitation, and anti-doping. Each participant is expected to be capable of cascading the programme within their own country upon completion.

The programme follows a blended learning approach, combining face-to-face workshops with an online e-learning platform featuring instructional videos, knowledge tests, and process guidelines. Each workshop runs for 2.5 days, with an estimated 20 hours of learning in total. Successful completion of Workshop 1 leads to a continuing professional development (CPD) credit, and participants who pass the final examination gain accreditation to deliver the programme nationally. The UEFA Academy delivers the programme across various European locations, with costs covered by UEFA.
