Emergency First Aid in Football

Designed for coaches, team managers, parents, teachers, volunteers, and carers, Emergency First Aid in Football goes beyond generic first aid to deliver football-specific knowledge and practical skills. The curriculum covers topics including duty of care, airway management techniques appropriate for contact sport, the A-E approach to an injured or unconscious player, Basic Life Support with an Automated External Defibrillator, FA concussion guidelines, spinal injury management, cardiac arrest preparation, and paediatric considerations. Participants leave equipped to attend to a conscious or unconscious player and provide appropriate care until emergency medical services arrive.

Delivered in a classroom setting across various locations, the course runs for one day and is open to participants aged 18 and over. Three mandatory e-learning modules — covering emergency action planning, sudden cardiac arrest, and concussion — complement the face-to-face learning. The course is provided by The FA through England Football Learning.
