Managing Sport Sustainability (MSS), offered by AISTS, is an advanced short course designed for sustainability managers, sport executives, event rights holders, and policymakers seeking to embed sustainability into their organisations. Through case studies, peer discussion, and practical exercises, participants learn to identify material sustainability issues, engage stakeholders, translate ESG goals into operational decisions, measure performance, and communicate impact. The programme draws on real-world practices from international sport bodies, federations, and companies, and features guest speakers from organisations including UEFA, the IOC, and adidas.
The course runs across three days, with an optional half-day group exercise on the fourth, and is scheduled for April 2026. It is delivered in a blended on-site and online format in English. Course leaders are Dr. Samuel Wicki, founder of Beyond and lecturer at E4S, and Dr. Boris Thurm, scientific collaborator and lecturer at EPFL and E4S. Participants who complete the programme receive the Managing Sport Sustainability Certificate.
