BA (Hons) Sports Journalism

Solent University's BA (Hons) Sports Journalism is a three-year undergraduate degree, with optional foundation and industry placement variants extending it to up to five years. Designed for students with a passion for sport and strong storytelling instincts, it provides multimedia training across broadcast, digital, print, and social media. Students practise journalism from the outset, with past placements secured at organisations including the BBC, Sky Sports, TalkSport, Southampton FC, and The Daily Mail.

Delivered on campus at Southampton City Centre, the degree is taught by award-winning professionals with a combined industry experience of over 200 years. It holds accreditation from the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC), the longest-running such accreditation for a sports journalism degree in the UK. Students have access to four television studios, eight radio studios, an industry-standard newsroom, and partnerships with the Press Association and Independent Radio News.
