Designed for anyone aged 16 or over who works with or supports young children taking their first steps in football, Play Phase introduces the FA's philosophy for developing children aged four to six. Across ten modules, learners explore child development at this age, how to create inclusive and positive environments, the principles of learning through play, and how to engage parents and carers. The course also includes a learning journal and a playbook of practical resources.
Delivered entirely online by England Football Learning, the FA's education platform, the course takes approximately 90 minutes to complete and is free of charge. It is accessible on mobile, tablet, laptop, or desktop, allowing learners to study at their own pace. No prior coaching experience is required to enrol.
