Welfare Officers Course

Designed for anyone taking on the Welfare Officer role at a grassroots football club or league, this mandatory course explores the responsibilities and practical tools associated with the position. Building on the FA's Safeguarding Children Course — which must be completed and in-date before enrolment — it covers safer working practices, a person-centred approach to safeguarding, the roles of others within the wider safeguarding network, and the steps required to keep players under 18 safe. Participants must also hold, or have at least applied for, an accepted FA Criminal Record Check prior to attending.

The course is delivered as a live virtual classroom session via the Big Marker platform, running for two hours. It is interactive in format, with learners able to contribute through a chat function and microphone. The course is provided by England Football Learning, the FA's education arm, and is priced at £25.
