UEFA Elite Youth A Licence

Designed for experienced coaches working with elite youth players, the UEFA Elite Youth A Licence develops competence across four key areas: the role of the development coach, player and team preparation, training environment design, and match management. It is aimed at coaches who already hold a UEFA Youth B Licence or UEFA A Licence and are working within professional or semi-professional academy environments, focusing particularly on developing players in the 17–23 age range for first-team football.

Delivered by the Scottish FA, the course follows a blended learning model combining virtual classroom sessions, self-directed assignments, and in-person practical coaching practice. A standout element is a study visit to Benfica Campus in Lisbon, where participants immerse themselves in SL Benfica's elite youth development methodology. The course concludes with a practical online assessment. Upon successful completion, candidates are awarded the UEFA Elite Youth A Licence. The course is priced at £2,000, inclusive of tuition, lunch, and Scottish FA kit.
